Blindness in children can create illiteracy, be a cause of poverty and a reason for social exclusion thereby making youngsters one of the most vulnerable groups in the country. Not many children enjoy the privilege of receiving education and if they have issues with their vision, then it can add to their challenge.
Children learn from an early age that they are equal and are also a valued member of the society. At Mission 4 Vision, we aim to help promote a positive and enabling environment in local government schools as well as communities to support education of children with visual impairment. We perform a routine test of their vision and prescribe and/or offer medication free of cost.
We would also educate young ones on how to take care of their eyes and offer best practices to ensure healthy vision persists. At the same time, we also perform screening to detect refractive error and prescribe spectacles to those in need. We would also council teachers so that they in return can ensure that children take their vision seriously.
